Working / Process
1. Delivery Phase
- Molten metal enters the vertical sprue and transitions into the horizontal runner.
- The kinetic energy of the metal is stabilized as it moves through the runner passage.
2. Distribution Phase
- The runner splits into smaller branches if the mold has multiple cavities or complex sections.
- It ensures that every part of the mold fills simultaneously to prevent premature solidification.
3. Filtration Phase
- As the metal travels, the runner geometry slows down the flow rate.
- Any floating impurities (dross) are pushed toward the top of the runner or into dead-end traps, ensuring only clean metal enters the gate.
